Dolphins playing with Divers in Plett!

The divers here at Pro Dive Plettenberg Bay had an amazing dive a few days ago with a big pod of Bottlenose Dolphins on Redbait Reef.  These intelligent, friendly and “smiling” faced mammals entertained the divers for about 15 minutes with some tricks and the beautiful echo of their squeaks and whistles.

The best of it all was that one of our PADI Open Water students had this wonderful dolphin encounter whilst busy completing her last qualifying dives…..how lucky can you be!

These incredible sleek creatures can swim as fast as 25-30 kilometers per hour and often surface 2-3 times a minute to breathe.  They are a regular visitor in the Bay and do sometimes come and play with us on our beautiful shore dives.
